A bit about me

I didn’t set out to become a photographer.

I went to art school in Bournemouth to study illustration, but it was there that I first picked up a camera. Photography immediately ‘clicked,’ it offered the same attention to detail and composition, but with an immediacy that suited how I like to work. (I can be impatient)!

I left art school early and took a more practical route, joining the John Lewis Partnership and going through their management training, while continuing to develop my photography alongside it. That combination of creative thinking and structured, real-world experience has stayed with me throughout my career.

Experience

After several years working part-time, I moved into photography full-time in my twenties, spending close to a decade working across a range of studios and roles; from weddings and property through to commercial work, as well as film processing and printing. It was a hands-on way of learning the craft properly, both technically and practically, working for several well-regarded studios at a time when everything was still shot on film.

I later spent time in the corporate world, working in finance. That experience gave me a clear understanding of how businesses operate and what clients need beyond the imagery itself.

After being made redundant, I took the opportunity to return to photography,  I’ve now been running my own business for over 16 years.

Today

I specialise in commercial photography and video.

My background means I approach projects with an understanding of process, reliability and the importance of getting things right first time. I’m used to working in operational environments and creating imagery that reflects a business accurately and professionally.

Over the years, my work has been recognised through industry awards and qualifications, but more importantly through long-term relationships with clients who value consistency and a considered approach.

Why it matters

Strong businesses often do exceptional work, but don’t always show it clearly.

Good photography and video help bridge that gap, supporting marketing, strengthening reputations and helping attract the right people.
